Correspondence of Captain Thomas Priestley of Mineral Point, Wisconsin, describing his own or his friends' experiences, 1858-1860, at Placerville, California, Read's Landing, Minnesota, and Blue River, Utah Territory; letters written and received during the Civil War in which he served with the 11th and 30th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry; a diary for 1864 containing accounts of a scouting expedition from Fort Snelling, Minnesota, to Fort Wadsworth, Dakota Territory (diary missing, 1993); and a few letters, 1887-1889, received while he was Indian agent at Yakima, Washington Territory.
